Smcave

The mysterious cave of the Singing Mountain Witches

Not far from the Singing Mountain POI on Dathomir one can find the Cave of the Singing Mountain Clan of Dathomir (160 4530). Inside these caves, several NPCs assign Singing Mountain-related quests. These quests award no XP beyond what is gained in combat, and the material rewards are very small. Still, the quests are worth doing simply for their content, and the Singing Mountain caves is one of the most interesting looking places in the game.

Game Info[]

The area surrounding the caves is shrouded in mist continually, and no wonder - the cave is on the top of Singing Mountain, one of the most prominent landmarks in northern Dathomir, not far from the Trade Outpost. The Singing Mountain POI is not far away (678 4080), as is the Singing Mountain Clan village (554 4223).

For the full effect of the Singing Mountain area, begin at (-840 4175), the massive bridge the witches have built over the river using The Force, and take the trail (marked with carved standing stones) that winds its way to the top of the mountain. On your way to the top, and the cave, you will pass several villages, and see some of the best scenery in the game.

The entire area around Singing Mountain is patrolled by the Singing Mountain Witches, which include:

  • Singing Mountain Clan initiate (CL77)
  • Singing Mountain Clan scout (CL78)
  • Singing Mountain Clan dragoon (79)
  • Singing Mountain Clan guardian (CL80)
  • Singing Mountain Clan arch witch (CL80)
  • Singing Mountain Clan councilwoman (CL80)

Once you reach the top, enter the cave and speak with the first witch, Vurlene.

Note: One of the missions will require you to be Rebel Combatant, though the rest can be completed by anyone.

Vurlene[]

Part One[]

  • Level: none, delivery mission
  • Reward:

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: Hello outworlder. I have a business proposition for you. You have the ability to leave this planet. That's very valuable to me. I'm a healer for the clan. There are materials I need for my work on Naboo. I was wondering if you would go there for me?
PC: Why should I?
Vurlene: You may not be aware of what a valuable thing it is to be able to leave this planet. Rest assured I am, and will reward you sufficiently.
PC: Why not? I'll go to Naboo for you.
Vurlene: That is great news. Ok, this book mentions a "Gungan" on Naboo. He is a holy man of his people by the name of Skub. He is said to have discovered a form of algae with healing properties similar to the derivative elements of bacta. The difference is I believe this particular algae would be well suited to the environs of Dathomir. Travel to Naboo, find this "Gungan" and return with a sample of the algae.

Vurlene (149 4495) tells you that, as an offworlder with the ability to break the Imperial blockade of the planet, she has a proposition for you. She has discovered that an algae on Naboo has the properties of bacta, and that a Gungan Holy Man named Skub has unlocked its secrets. She wishes you to bring her some of this algae, and asks if you would aid her. Agree, and travel to Naboo.

Moenia is the closest starport, but the waypoint (-2096 -5401) by the Mordran area is still a good ways off. Once you arrive, talk with Skub and return to Vurlene with the Jar of Algae.

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: Ah yes, this is it. I'll introduce a little of this to a pool, as I am told it favors dark, still waters. And as for you... I am pleased to thank you, and to offer these in reward for your services.

Part Two[]

  • Level: none, delivery mission
  • Reward:

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: The algae's growth is acceptable, it should take well to our rivers and lakes. I've had a chance to test it on a few light wounds and the effect, though not as strong as the bacta we've acquired from Imperial medics, is still quite noticeable. We are going to need to test this in the field however. Would you care to run a sample out to a fellow healer?
PC: What is in it for me?
Vurlene: Well, I have a packet of strong healing herbs I will give to you. There is also the prospect of monetary compensation.
PC: I'll do it.
Vurlene: That's fine. You'll find Seelia out that way. Give her this salve and tell her to apply a thin smear to light scratches, thickening the layer to match the depth of the wounds.

Vurlene says that the algae is working well, but needs a field test. She wants you to take a Jar of Healing Salve to a fellow healer named Selia, who is only about 200m away.

Travel to the location provided, converse with Selia, then return to Vurlene for your reward.

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: Selia has the salve? Perfect. Now I've only to wait for her to return with news. You've been a great help, outworlder. Take these healing supplies and credits.

Part Three[]

  • Level: 86
  • Reward:

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: It's with great sadness that I must again ask for your help. Selia has been slain by a Nightsister patrol. She was... a good friend of mine and I want her avenged. But even more important than that: the salve has been taken. We can not let this secret fall into the hands of the Nightsisters.
PC: Why?
Vurlene: This is a matter of grave importance, but I am still prepared to reward you for the service.
PC: I will return the salve.
Vurlene: Hurry. That patrol must not be allowed to return to the Nightsister stronghold. I have no doubt that they will discover the secret of the salve's making.

The healer you just visited, Selia, has been slain by a Nightsister patrol, and they have stolen the salve you gave to her. Vurlene says this patrol must not reach the Nightsister stronghold - you must intercept them.

Your target is a Nightsister Patrol Leader (CL86 Elite). When she is dead, return to Vurlene with the Jar of Healing Salve.

Conversation with Vurlene[]

Vurlene: Ah yes. The salve is safe. It was foolish of me to let it out of the stronghold. I will be more careful in the future. Take these, it's the least I could do.

Aujante K'lee[]

Klee

Aujante K'lee in the throne room

Part One[]

  • Level: none, escort mission
  • Reward:
    • 200 credits

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: Welcome to the Singing Mountain Clan Stronghold. Vurlene informs me you are trustworthy. Have you come to aid us in our fight against Gethzerion? She attacks us constantly though we are no threat to her. Now one of our trusted servants has betrayed us. There is no love lost between our people but our need is great. Will you help us, stranger?
PC: Why should I help your clan?
Aujante K'lee: If simple compassion for an oppressed people will not motivate you then I fail to know what will. We have little enough to offer you but will give you what we can. All I can do is ask. What say you, will you help?
PC: Yes
Aujante K'lee: Compassion is a welcome change to this world. Aldiae, my most trusted servant, has betrayed us and gone to tell Gethzerion of all our weaknesses. Please bring my traitorous servant back here before our vulnerabilities are revealed to those who loathe us.

From Vurlene, you are sent to Aujante K'lee in the Singing Mountain throne room (167 4484). She says that you have proved trustworthy, and will ask you if you are there to aid them in a fight against Gethzerion, the Clan Mother of the Nightsisters. If you agree to aid them, K'lee sends you to find Aldiae, a Singing Mountain witch who is going to betray the clan to the Nightsisters.

Travel to the location provided and "Converse" with Aldiae (so as not to attack her by mistake). If there are any Nightsisters around, defeat them, though this is not always part of the mission (the spawns are often random). Once you have met with Aldiae, return to K'lee.

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: We of the Singing Mountain Clan do not easily come to trust outsiders. Perhaps you will teach us the error of this.

Part Two[]

  • Level: 85
  • Reward:
    • 500 credits
    • 450 Singing Mountain faction points

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: It's strange and yet not entirely unpleasant to see your face at Singing Mountain Stronghold in these harsh times. Perhaps you will be willing to aid us in the recovery of a stolen item if we have not imposed on your good nature too much already. What say you?
PC: What was stolen from you?
Aujante K'lee: An item very precious to the Singing Mountain Clan. It is a compilation of the wisdom of our clan. All the mystical knowledge we have collected over the centuries has been stolen form us. Will you aid us in its recovery?
PC: Yes
Aujante K'lee: I was right about you. You have an aura of altruism about you that shines through your gruff exterior. If you can find a Nightsister named Vhuransa, we believe she is the one who has stolen our sacred lore. We would be grateful were you to return it to us.

K'lee now asks you to seek out and destroy a Nightsister named Vhuransa who has stolen the mystical lore of the Singing Mountain clan, and who is even now returning with it to the Nightsister Stronghold. K'lee says that you have an aura of altruism about you despite your gruff exterior, and thanks you for aiding them.

Seek out Vhuransa, a Nightsister Stalker (CL91 Elite), at the location K'lee gives you. Destroy her, and return to Aujante K'lee.

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: Once again you demonstrate to me that we can look for allies outside our own clan. Thank you.

Part Three[]

  • Level: none, escort mission
  • Reward:
    • 300 credits

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: It seems we are constantly seeking your aid in our struggle against the Nightsisters. We would not pester you so frequently if they would just leave us alone. Now they have kidnapped one of our youngest. Will you help us find her?
PC: Why would they kidnap one of you?
Aujante K'lee: So they can turn her to the path of darkness thus strengthening their clan. We just want our lost sister back. Will you help us?
PC: Yes
Aujante K'lee: Seek out Jhuryx. The Nightsisters took her and it will be no small task to rescue her from their clutches. Take the greatest of care with your preparations.

The Nightsisters have captured one of the youngsters of the Singing Mountain clan, and K'lee asks for your help in rescuing her. She gives you a location and bids you hurry.

The sister you seek is called Jhuryx. When you find her, "Converse" with her using the radial menu, and then return to K'lee. She should be alone, but Nightsisters frequently spawn close to her, so be careful using AOE attacks in case you hit Jhuryx. Whern you have spoken with her, return to K'lee.

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: If ever there was an outsider that should have been born one of us, surely it must be you.

Part Four[]

  • Level: 82
  • Reward:
    • 500 credits
    • 410 Singing Mountain faction points

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: I have a great request to make of you, my friend. It may be beyond your abilities but I will ask anyway. A Nightsister named Morathax has orchestrated all our recent troubles. It would be best for the Singing Mountain Clan if she were removed lest she chip away at us until there is nothing left. Do you think you can handle the job?
PC: Who is this Morathax?
Aujante K'lee: A disciple of Gethzerion who seems to come from the same mould. The last thing we need is both of them trying to destroy us. Can we rely on your help?
PC: Yes
Aujante K'lee: It is bold of you to attempt this but have a care: Morathax will be well guarded by those loyal to her and will not be a quick victory. I caution you to bring friends you trust to aid you in this endeavor. It would sadden us to lose our outsider friend to one such as she.

Aujante K'lee now says she has identified the Nightsister who has orchestrated the recent attacks againstt the Singing Mountain clan, a witch named Morathax. She asks you as a final favor to find and kill Morathax, and rid the world of her evil. She tells you that this task may be beyond your abilities, and urges you to bring friends to help you.

Morathax is a Nightsister Spell Weaver (CL81) and is alone (though since this is Dathomir, there is likely to be random Nightsister spawn close to her). She has no intention of being taken alive; when you approach, she screams "Now I will show you the true power of the Dark Side!" and attacks with everything she has. When she is dead, return to Aujante K'lee.

Conversation with Aujante K'lee[]

Aujante K'lee: You are a true friend to the Singing Mountain Clan. Perhaps we shall take a less dim view of strangers henceforth.

Vhaunda[]

Note: You must be Rebel Combatant in order to accept missions from Vhaunda and get access to Izaryx.

Part One[]

  • Level: 65
  • Reward: 50 credits

Conversation with Vhaunda[]

Vhaunda: It's an unfortunate necessity that we have to have men on this planet at all. Men who don't follow orders however, are not tolerated. Perhaps you'd like to show your worth and get rid of a few?
PC: What is in it for me?
Vhaunda: Honor? The thrill of the hunt? If these do not motivate you I have nothing for you.
PC: What can I do to help?
Vhaunda: Prove you are brave and loyal by bringing me the special shoulder pad from an Imperial patrol leader. My scouts will create a disturbance and lead a patrol to a location not far from here. You should be able to figure out the rest.

Huntmistress Vhaunda (140 4489) hates men. Luckily for the rebellion, she hates Imperials, too. She asks if you would like to aid her in eliminating a few of them (men, and Imperials). If you agree, she will direct you to bring her as a trophy a Stormtrooper Sergeant Shoulder Pad from a patrol her sisters will lure into the area.

Your target is LX-613, a Stormtrooper Squad Leader (CL65). He has a patrol of 3-5 Stormtroopers (CL25) which you can kill or ignore. Once the Squad Leader is dead, return to Vhaunda.

Conversation with Vhaunda[]

Vhaunda: Well then, that's actually somewhat impressive. For an outworlder. This is going to look pretty good on my armor. Here's some cash for your trouble.

Part Two[]

  • Level: 82
  • Reward:
    • 75 credits
    • 10 Singing Mountain faction
    • Vibro Lance (CL80, 180-361 energy damage, range 0-4m)

Conversation with Vhaunda[]

Vhaunda: There are some of us who feel outlanders shouldn't be held to our standards. I'm not one of them. Neither is my friend Peila. She thinks you don't know your place and wants to fight a battle of honor with you. I think it would be amusing to watch. What are you going to do?
PC: Why?
Vhaunda: In our clan honor is everything. If you do not value yours, then why are you here, outlander?
PC: I will fight.
Vhaunda: Well then, perhaps this outlander does have honor. Let's see how well they defend it. Peila will not be hard to find, let me draw you a map here on the ground.

All your work on behalf of the clan is making some members nervous, and a sister named Peila has challenged you to a duel. Vhaunda agrees with Peila that offworlders don't know their place, and thinks you have no honor if you refuse to face her.

When find Peila (CL82), she asks you if you came to fight or to beg for mercy. Defeat her, and return to Vhaunda for your reward. She tells you that you did well, and that it is a shame that someone as skilled as you is an offworlder.

Conversation with Vhaunda[]

Vhaunda: After Peila came to she filled me in on the details of your fight. You did well. It's too bad you're not one of us. Take this vibrolance as a gift.

Izaryx[]

Part One[]

  • Level: none, escort mission
  • Reward:
    • 800 credits

Conversation with Izaryx[]

Izaryx: Greetings, offworlder, I am Izaryx, rancor trainer of the Singing Mountain Clan. Recently, our rivals, the Nightsisters, have been attacking our scouts. They are convinced that we wish to steal their trained rancors. One of my scouts just sent a distress signal and I have no remaining warriors to send to her rescue. Can you help her out of her predicament?
PC: Why did your scout send a distress signal?
Izaryx: Her patrol had fallen victim to a Nightsister ambush. Please hurry and you may be able to save her.
PC: Yes.
Izaryx: Hurry to these coordinates and save her from becoming another casualty of war. If you can save her, escort her back here.

Izaryx (152 4482) is the Singing Mountain rancor mistress, and is flanked by two baby rancor, Shando and Mau'fel. She tells you that she has just received a distress signal from one of her scouts, who has been attacked by Nightsisters and needs rescuing. She asks you to go to her coordinates and help her.

When you arrive, remember to "Converse" using the radial menu. Your target is a "Singing Mountain rancor tamer" and she is alone. When you have spoken to her, return to Izaryx.

Conversation with Izaryx[]

Izaryx: You have my thanks, offworlder. Please accept this as payment for your courageous deeds.

Part Two[]

  • Level: 81
  • Reward:
    • 850 credits

Conversation with Izaryx[]

Izaryx: Fath Hray's hatred has once again brought suffering to my sisters. She has sent a war party to attack some of our settlements. Rumor has it that this war party is attempting to infect our rancors with something called the Berserker Virus. I need you to stop these raiders before this can happen. Can you do it?
PC: Why does Fath Hray hate you so much?
Izaryx: I was once a member of the Nightsister Clan but I could not accept Gethzerion's evil. I rejected them and joined the Singing Mountain Clan. I was Fath Hray's apprentice and she felt personally betrayed.
PC: What is the Berserker Virus?
Izaryx: I am not sure but I understand it makes domesticated animals impossible to control. I can't allow our rancors to become infected with it.
PC: Does this virus affect sentients?
Izaryx: I do not think so, but I have no way of knowing for certain. This mission is filled with risk. Do you wish to tackle it?
PC: Yes.
Izaryx: Here are the coordinates. You should bring allies as these Nightsister warriors are quite formidable. My scout who has been tracking this war party will aid you if she can. Good luck.

Izaryx now asks you to destroy a Nightsister war party organized by the Nightsister Fath H'ray, her old mistress (Izaryx used to be a Nightsister before joining the Singing Sisters). She says that Fath is trying to infect her rancors with the Berzerker virus, making them untamable and impossible to control. She asks you to smash the war party before it captures any rancors. She warns you that this will be a very hard fight and suggests that you ask friends to help you in the battle.

Your adversary is a Nightsister Spell Weaver (CL81) who is alone - though on Dathomir it is always hard to tell which Nightsisters are random spawn and which are part of a mission. Nevertheless, killing the Spell Weaver completes the mission. Return to Izaryx for your reward.

Conversation with Izaryx[]

Izaryx: You are brave and your skills are magnificent. Please accept this reward.

Zideera[]

Part One[]

  • Level: none, escort mission
  • Reward:
    • 300 credits

Conversation with Zideera[]

Zideera: Greetings, offworlder. I am known among my sisters as Zideera. I am apprenticed to Huntress Vhaunda. Recently my mistress has become cross with me due to my growing interest in offworlders, particularly of the male variety. I have explained that I am only curious for they seem quite strange to me - strange but not unappealing. There is one in particular who has fascinated me and now finds himself in need of aid. I cannot aid him myself - my mistress would punish me harshly. Could you help him?
PC: Who is this offworlder?
Zideera: I believe you would refer to him as a pirate. He preys upon the weak members of your kind, which is good since this would serve to cull your herd. Correct?
PC: Yes.
Zideera: Excellent. I believe his ship was shot down by an Imperial patrol. One of my scout sisters gave me the coordinates of the crash. Could you go there and bring this male back here safely?

Zideera (153 4465) occupies one of the most fascinating rooms in any building in the game. It should be noted that the image on the ceiling of her chamber is identical to the image on the floor of the Light Jedi Enclave on Yavin IV, though there seems to be no in-game connection, beyond the fact that the Singing Sisters are Light Side users, and that in the Expanded Universe, Master Yoda visited the Singing Mountain clan and entrusted to them Light Side secrets to use against the Nightsisters. However, this has nothing to do with the mission at hand.

She is an apprentice to Huntress Vhaunda, and tells you that she has taken a keen interest in offworlder males, and one in particular. This has not pleased her mistresses, obviously, and so she wants you to go and save a male she has found appealing, a pirate who has crashed on Dathomir close by.

She gives you the coordinates of the crash. Your target is a "Commoner" not far from the cave. Be sure to "Converse" with him, and then return to Zideera. She rewards you and asks you to "keep this to yourself."

Conversation with Zideera[]

Zideera: I thank you for bringing him back to me. Please keep this to yourself and accept this as a reward.

Part Two[]

  • Level: none, escort mission
  • Reward:
    • 450 credits

Conversation with Zideera[]

Zideera: My pirate friend has informed me that one of his crewmates has contacted him. It seems my pirate friend needs to return to his people to continue plying his trade. Will you bring my pirate friend's crewman back here? It will be safer for them if they can travel back to his ship together.
PC: Why doesn't your pirate friend simply go out to meet his shipmate?
Zideera: My mistress does not know he's still here. I'm hiding him, you see. It would be bad for both of us if she were to discover him.
PC: Won't she discover him when the shipmate arrives?
Zideera: I'll tell her they arrived together and wish to trade with our clan.
PC: You've gotten good at lying to your mistress, haven't you?
Zideera: Where males are concerned, it's quite necessary. She does not understand my fascination with them and I cannot explain it. I've asked my pirate friend to show her but he's convinced that's not a wise idea.
PC: Yes.
Zideera: Excellent. Please hurry. I hear that the Nightsisters have sent a raiding party to investigate the ship's landing. They tend to kill offworlders they encounter in the wilds.

Zideena's pirate lover has been contacted by one of his shipmates, and it is time for him to return to his trade and get off of Dathomir - Zideena hiding him is unsafe, for him and for her. She asks you to escort his shipmate back so that they may leave together. You have the chance here to have an interesting conversation with Zideena about males and her interest in them, but sooner or later, the mission calls.

She gives you his coordinates and asks you to meet him. When you find him (another "Commoner"), "Converse" with him via the radial menu and return to Zideena.

Conversation with Zideera[]

Zideera: Thank you for your help. Please accept this as payment for your services.

Azzenaj[]

Azzenaj

Dealing with Azzenaj

  • Level: none
  • Rewards: none

Arch Witch Azzenaj (533 4237) is located in the Singing Mountain village down the slope of the mountain and not in the caves. She tells you that she has lost several inititates around a certain cave to the northwest, and asks (demands...) that you investigate the disappearances.

If you accept her mission, she gives you a waypoint to the Nightspider Cult Cave POI. When you get close to the cave, you get a message saying "You have arrived in the area you were sent to" and that is all. There is nothing else to this mission, it is only to make you aware of the cave and to encourage you to travel to it. The cave itself is a dangerous and fun place for adventure, but has nothing else to do with the Singing Mountain clan.
